In 1997, Pedro Marambio began his musical studies with his master Jean-Pierre Karich, who motivated him to join the Faculty of Arts at University of Chile. In that same year, he was selected to begin his in depth study of keyboard instruments, “Marimba” and “Vibraphone” from a pioneer and prominent musician of Percussion in Chile, Master Ramon Hurtado. Besides conducting an acute study of heterometric rhythm, he also joined the prestigious percussion ensemble “Rhythmus”, with whom he performed various concerts in Santiago, giving his initial experiences with the classical and contemporary music. Then he met the well-known musician and percussionist Patricio Hernandez, who taught him the entire orchestral repertoire and has also, helped him in further study of keyboard.

During that period, Pedro developed interest in African and Indian classical music and so he learnt Djembe from Etienne Hazard and Tabla from Millapol Gajardo respectively. Pedro progressed in music accompanying African dance classes and a year later with Graham dance classes in University of Chile.

In 2006 he finished his studies, obtaining his degree as a performing percussion artist. After this important step, Pedro decided to immigrate to India to study the amazing instrument “Tabla”, with Master Ramdas Palsule and Nilesh Ranadive. Currently, Pedro Marambio is a part of the Flamenco fusion band Alma, where he applies all his musical knowledge and versatility, mixing rhythms and musical styles like funk, blues, acid jazz, drum and bass, and so on.

Pedro explored his talent for the first time with DRUMS, at the age of 16 and learnt this art on his own. He has always been influenced by the greatest musicians and drummers as Terry Bozzio, Chad Wackerman, Vinnie Colaiuta, Frank Zappa, George Clinton, Hermeto Pascoal, Olivier Messiaen, among many others, giving music a diverse and rich quality.
